PRODUCT CARE
Our products are crafted using premium quality materials and it is essential that they are cared for and maintained regularly in order to ensure durability. Climatic, storage and care conditions, as well as body temperature and clothing directly impact the elasticity, color and resilience of our products. Always keep in mind that the frequency of maintenance treatments must be assessed depending on the actual use of the saddle and accessories. While use in sporting and competing will require more frequent cleaning, less intense use – such as for trekking pleasure – will require less attention. We therefore ask you to evaluate the degree of exposure of your Setzi product to elements such as weather, mud, sweat, in order to determine the correct care.
How to care for:
Leather
With time and use, leather loses the moisturizing and lubricating substances that they are initially processed with. This loss causes stiffness and dryness, resulting in less flexibility and elasticity that could seriously damage the saddle or accessory over time. In order to ensure longevity of your saddle and the leather stirrups, we recommend using a leather balsam applied generously over the product which creates a protective barrier against the elements.
CARBON
Carbon products require special attention. In making the frame, the carbon fibers absorb and resist certain forces, but any transversal force can overwhelm the intrinsic strength of the fibers and thus cause the frame to crack. Therefore, we strongly advice against collisional impacts, such as throwing the carbon saddle on the ground. While the required maintenance is delicate, it is minimal - it is enough to clean the saddle with a sponge immersed in water and neutral soap, wiping and polishing it with a soft cloth.
Neoprene
Neoprene is a material belonging to the family of synthetic rubbers based on polychloroprene, whose main features are: elasticity, shear and crush resistance, as well as resistance to weathering and heat. Setzi introduced the use of this material by designing highly technological products whose maintenance requires minimal effort. In fact, it is sufficient to clean it, depending on the dirt, with a delicate and totally neutral soap and soft cloth to avoid scratching the product.
BioThane®
BioThane® is a polyester webbing with a TPU or PVC coating.This is a water-repellent material of high durability, with excellent resistance to light and heat as well as abrasions. Cleaning is extremely simple: any impurities such as earth or dust are easily removed with water and neutral soap.
Fleece / Retina
Fleece and Retina products that are lighted soiled can be cleaned with soft brush. For items that are heavily soiled they can be handwashed in cold water with a neutral and gentle soap.
Saddle Maintenance
DOES
- Ensure your saddle is covered when not in use.
- Wipe down and dry your saddle to remove moisture.
- Clean and lubricate the leather on your saddle after prolonged or intensive use.
DON'T
- Stack saddles on top of each other when storing for long periods.
- Prolonged and incessant contact with materials such as silicon – for example pants or saddle pads made of silicon.
